What is Turkish study residency?

An academic residence card will be issued to all people who receive admission from accredited educational centers in Turkey and complete the registration process at the university. Some of these people are students who intend to study in Türkiye.

An international student can extend his study stay for each year of study, and there is no need to worry about extending this stay; Because you can even apply for permanent residence in Türkiye through education.

If the study period is over, you can apply for higher degrees or after working in Turkey, change your residence type to a work one or even buy a property in Turkey in order to receive residence in this way.

You should also know that international students are allowed to stay for 60 days after graduation or after the end date of the program to complete their affairs. Also, they may be allowed to work for one year if they plan to work in a hands-on training course or participate in non-foundational fields of study, and up to three years in STEM fields.

Procedures for obtaining Turkish study residence

The first step you must take in order to obtain a Turkish study residence is to do the administrative work of registering at the university and receiving the secondary admission form from the university. Note that it is possible to receive primary admission to Turkish universities from Iran or another country, but secondary admission is issued when you complete the university registration.

Administrative affairs and university registration can be done in two ways, directly and by proxy. In the power of attorney method, you must go to Iran's official notary offices and give power of attorney to the agent of the institution, such as Hami Mohajer, to do your work in Turkey.

After enrolling in the university, you need to know the conditions for obtaining a Turkish study visa in order to receive a visa. After receiving your student visa from the Turkish embassy or consulate in your country, you are allowed to stay for 90 days. After entering Turkey, you must apply for your study residence permit within one month.

To obtain a study residence permit, you must go to the provincial immigration office in Türkiye. This permit allows you to stay for up to one year, and as mentioned, you can renew it every year. You can apply for renewal 60 days before the expiration date of your license.

Work rules with Turkish study residence

According to the new rules and conditions of student residence in Turkey, international students studying in associate and bachelor degrees are not allowed to work in the first year of their studies, and after one year, they can work part-time in Turkey.

Masters and PhD students will be allowed to work in Turkey with a work permit or Chalishma Ezin from the first year. This permit is issued for one year in the first year, then, if the applicant meets the necessary conditions, for three years and six years, and finally as a permanent work permit.

With a work permit and study residence, you can work 30 hours a week.

International students are not allowed to work in government and private offices and can engage in tasks such as helping professors, research opportunities, working in cafes and hotels, internet remote work, private language tutoring, etc.

The person applying for a work permit must not work in an illegal workplace, otherwise he will be punished.

In some fields of study, such as medicine and dentistry, some honors students of the final year have the opportunity to teach fellow students of the first year.
